Purps had a dream.

In the verdant fields of Hyjal Summit, a chilly silence swept through the Night Elf Encampment. The cries of terror coming from their Horde allies echoed into the night with a deathly finality. The Children of the Stars, led by Tyrande Whisperwind, grimly overlooked the battlefield. Archimonde, the Defiler, had reached the World Tree.

His victorious voice rumbled menacingly through the frozen tundra of Dun Morogh to the deepest pits of Searing Gorge, "Let this scar signify the first blow against the mortal world."

He laid his foot upon its bark, shadowed by its canopy that blacks out the sky , and unleashed his ancient evil. The World Tree screamed in timeless agony, yet there was no sound.

It was this scream that awoke Purps and drove him into a cold panic. Uprooting himself, he rallied his comrades to the World Tree's aid, launching them into battle to protect what never was and what should never be.

And so, the World Tree is safe.

At least for another week.
